It’s only a few weeks until the Rye Festival of the Sea takes place on Sunday, September 1, and organisers are looking for more entries for the raft race and tug of war, plus any stall holders who would like to take part.

This year, because of the tides, the event will be held exclusively on The Salts. The ever-popular raft race will start at 1:15pm and tug of war at 3:20pm. Being on The Salts this year, the tug of war will be on all grass in a central arena, so time to show off your muscles. You don’t have to be part of a business, any group can get together to form teams for the raft and tug events.

A new item this year will be the fun dog show at 11am with prizes in various categories which will be announced later.

Also new will be a display by two local cadet teams competing on time trials against each other. Music will again be provided by the Rockit Men, with additional voices from the Music Well Community Choir and Ryebellion drummers to start off the raft race.

Full details can be found on ryefestivalofthesea.co.uk including entry forms for the raft race, tug of war and stalls.

If you enjoy the day and would like to help with organising it next year, more volunteers are always welcome so do get in touch.
