Building on the Love your town story in your last issue, I think the best thing of all about Rye is the people. It is the most beautiful place in the world, there is a huge amount to do, but I am constantly blown away by the kindness of people who live here and their salty and witty characters.
I went on a boat trip around the harbour a couple of weeks ago. I was really looking forward to it. It was a splendid time and lived up to and beyond my very high expectations. As well as the trip itself, our hosts were so funny and interesting. I would give the trip a high 12 out of 10. And our hosts at least 100. A unique and unforgettable experience.
As I was walking home last weekend, I saw another kind person had been busy. They had put a box of delicious apples out by the pavement with an instruction to help yourself. The extra special thing was that they had also included bags so that if someone wanted to take a few, they could.
What an amazing place we live in.

That’s very sweet to cover my apples! There will be buckets of damsons next weekend too. That aside I’m interested to know if your boat trip was a commercial one as I have friends who visit that love fishing. Mary Foster
I saw some damsons there last weekend! Very kind of you. No unfortunately the boat trip wasnt commercial. Some kind people had donated it for the Rye Bonfire Society auction. I really wanted it and got it and it was a day I will never forget. I think they do also offer it for other charity auctions/prizes. They do boat trips from Newenden which are great as I am sure you know, but I cant imagine anything better than the trip from Moon Marine.
