Dear Sir
Am I the only person finding it impossible to get through to Rother District Council (RDC) on the phone? I have called 01424 787000 continuously from 8:30am until 11am this morning only to hear the same recorded message about the allegedly high volume of traffic they are experiencing.
After pressing the recommended button (5), it was the same thing over again regarding all the staff being terribly busy, so I could either hang on or send RDC an email. I do not want to send RDC an email, and as my council tax is fully paid up I think I should have the option of talking to a live person instead of a machine.
I have only had occasion to call the council a few times over the past couple of years, and it was always the same story. Just how many people man the phones at RDC? One lonely soul coping with everything, despite the rip-off council tax we all have to pay with no discernible results in Rye, at least? Maybe we should all move to Bexhill in order to get some value for our money?
Yours,
Helena Kojevnikov

No, you are not alone. I had the same problem on several subsequent occasions. Truly dire service for a council who charge so much and provide so little!! Even if you do have to capitulate and send an e-mail you get an automated reply saying that they will send you a reply in 25 days!! Really not good enough!
Unfortunately this is a classic example of bureaucrats hiding behind the veil of Internet applications under the guise of providing a service. It is a combination of laziness, lousy customer service and arrogance that is practiced by many organisations. RDC are just copy cats.
