For over a year now a collection of Environment Agency containers and building paraphernalia have littered Strand Quay. For months no work has actually be carried out at the Quay. How much longer we are going to have to put up with this eyesore?
Last year the Rye Christmas tree had to be erected over the road, all signs are that this years tree will have to be there again. Come on Environment Agency, please remove your stuff, you are supposed to be making the place look better.

No mention from Tony,,about the grist mill eyesore across the river that has stood out for years for locals and visitors to admire as they come into town, that’s a bigger disgrace, than temporary buildings being used in the upgrade of the strand Quay, that has to be done in stages
Let’s also not forget Tony, the eyesore on the other side of the Strand Quay, owned by the company that say they are investing in Rye,what year is anybody guess.
I hadn’t forgotten the skeleton of a building, I see it every day. I can’t understand how it has been allowed to blight Rye for so long.
As I understand it these container offices and stores remain in position to support essential repair works to the river banks near the Harbour Road junction – perhaps Rye News could approach the EA for a statement. I agree with Tony though that they are not helpful to creating an attractive townscape, the whole of the Winchelsea Road stretch of river frontage is crying out for a coordinated improvement programme between the multitude of landowners and tenants. It could be turned into a major asset for the town with a little imagination
