In 2019 I asked the harbour master if more prominent signs could be erected around Rye’s Strand Quay to ask people not to feed the pesky seagulls. New signs were promised, but after a year nothing happened. I asked again in 2020 and was told new signs would be in place before the end of the year. Again nothing happened.
However, in early 2021, crude printed A4 paper notices, in plastic sleeves, were placed in a few places around the quay. Because of their poor quality they soon deteriorated because of the wind and rain, or just blew away.
My photo shows someone feeding the gulls standing in front of one of the remaining signs. She had previously been sitting facing the sign which she should have noticed or simply chose to ignore. Come on harbour master, get some decent signs erected.
