A tasty club to join

Shop local, support local businesses, avoid unnecessary travel and stay safe. These are messages we all keep seeing and hearing on TV, radio and via social media but thankfully, if you fancy a treat you really don’t have to travel far, as in Rye we are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating.

If you don’t fancy cooking or feel you want a break from the monotony, why not try something different and join the Whitehouse takeaway Friday Night dinner club ?

This is how it works, the weekly menu is published on a Tuesday on the Whitehouse website, to those on their mailing list, and to social media. You then place your order online via the website, but last orders are Thursday at 4pm.

Having placed your order you will then receive confirmation via a text message on Friday between 12pm-1pm with your collection time, which is between 6pm-7:30pm, from the Whitehouse in Rye High Street. Your food is freshly cooked on the day, served hot and ready to eat, a really wholesome alternative to some takeaways.

As last orders are each Thursday at 4pm it is now too late to order this week’s choice but, looking at the menu, who couldn’t be tempted with crispy Appledore pork belly with smoky chickpeas, chorizo and wilted greens or sweet potatoes, lentils and chickpeas, all for £11.00.

The vegetarian option for £10.00 is smoky paprika goulash with wilted greens and, for £5.00, the dessert is a real winner – dark chocolate and salted caramel tart with whipped  crème fraiche, wow!

Hopefully this menu will tempt you to give it a go but, if you have other plans, don’t forget Whitehouse is also open for takeaway sourdough bread, cakes, pastries and coffees, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between 9am and 1pm.

You can contact the Whitehouse on 01797 224748 or at info@whitehouserye.co.uk. Enjoy!

  1. It seems a rather strange statement to say we are spoilt for choice in Rye for places to eat when everything is shut. Further, this is the first time I’ve heard anything about The Whitehouse doing a takeout, and it’s welcome news. But any chance of offering a bit more than just a Friday night ? I’ve mentioned before on Rye News how useful it would be for someone to create a post that tells us all exactly what is available, and who is operating. Unless these establishments speak-out and advertise in some way how on earth are we supposed to know ? Some of us want to support local businesses as much as we can, but unless we know you’re open we cannot give you our money.
