The new chairman of Rye Harbour RNLI lifeboat station’s fundraising committee is appealing to local people who could help in any way with a new fund raising appeal.
Andrew Seymour is keen to hear from anyone who could spare some time to support the fundraising committee, whether arranging fundraising events in their local area, helping in the lifeboat station shop, attracting new donations from both individuals and local businesses, or devising new and innovative methods of fundraising.
Rye Harbour lifeboat station is currently operating with a relief lifeboat, after their own lifeboat Hello Herbie was written off, after hitting a semi-submerged object whilst responding to an emergency SOS call at night. We are launching an appeal to raise money for a new lifeboat and, following a very generous donation, need a further £63,000 to achieve this goal.
Andrew said: “Rye Harbour RNLI lifeboat is an extremely important asset which is vital in saving lives in Rye Bay. We desperately need funds for a new lifeboat and to maintain the lifeboat station, especially in the wake of recent tragedies along the coastline. Please help us in any way you can.”
You can contact Andrew by email: chairryernli@btinternet.com or by writing to the lifeboat station: Rye Harbour Lifeboat Station, Harbour Road, Rye Harbour, East Sussex, TN31 7TU.
Everyone at the lifeboat station works on a voluntary basis giving their time freely and often risking their own lives to save others. Why not help them to help others?

Whilst I am in no doubt the RNLI station volunteers do a fantastic job in dangerous conditions I am a little concerned the organisation has lost sight of it’s core role.

I have heard from a number of sources that the waste within the organisation is incredible.
