In an announcement on Tuesday, April 26 it was confirmed that pubs in England and Wales can open until 1am to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend under a legal change approved on Monday.
The extension of licensing hours across England and Wales will extend closing times for pubs from 11pm to 1am to allow late-night celebrations of the Queen’s 70 years on the throne covering Thursday, June 2; Friday, June 3; and Saturday, June 4.
The previously trailed order to temporarily relax opening hours under the Licensing Act 2003 was submitted to Parliament by home secretary Priti Patel.
If you are in Rye or thinking of coming here for the jubilee weekend, the Brewery Yard Club off Landgate has four days packed full of entertainment: the Ultimate Elvis Tribute on Thursday, June 2; on Friday, June 3 you can see the welcome return of the Drawtones with their authentic Hammond groove; and Timberlina & Duo Bogof take to the stage on Saturday, June 4. The pace slows a little on Sunday, June 5 when the Porch Swing Blues accompany your bottomless brunch.
Bar opening times are now from 6pm on Thursday, from 5pm on Friday and on Saturday from 4pm. On all three days the new extended opening time of 1am applies.
