The Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital is building The Hub on Rye Hill, a new community centre – open to everyone – on the Peasmarsh Road. It will offer a café, yoga and Pilates classes, therapy treatments and many other activities.
At the moment, the current building site is surrounded by a big white hoarding. To make the hoarding more exciting and colourful The Hub on Rye Hill would love to cover it in painted portraits of local people, both children and adults.
Do you have a creative streak? Do you have a mum/dad/daughter/son/ grandma/carer/aunt/nephew who likes art and would enjoy spending a couple of hours painting a portrait?
We are looking for pairs of people, a child and an adult, related or not, to come along to the workshop and paint each other’s portraits. The workshop will be run by a local artist who will help everyone create a fabulous painting. No prior experience is necessary, but you have to be up for giving it your best shot. Above and below are examples of a mother and daughter painted at a previous workshop.
The finished portraits will be printed and displayed on the hoarding. It will be a portrait of the community painted by the community for everyone to enjoy.
The workshops are free of charge, but places are limited so booking really is essential. They are open to any child over the age of seven in a pair with an adult. They will be held in Rye on Saturday May 11 and Saturday May 18, starting at 2pm and finishing at 4pm.
If you are interested, and would like to take part, or would like more information please email Jane Fitch at hubonryehill@gmail.com stating the age and the school of your child.
