Christmas Festival thank you

After another year of planning from a very dedicated team, Christmas in Rye is done! The highly anticipated event returned on Saturday, December 7 with many coming from far and wide to celebrate the Christmas magic with the people of Rye.

This year, the theme was Festival of Christmas Past, taking the festival back to its original Dickensian theme for the five-year anniversary. A great welcome to this theme was this year’s poster, with artwork from local artist, Polly Horner. Polly captured both the theme and the town so beautifully in her poster, and as soon as it was revealed on social media by the committee, festival-lovers were more than happy!

Thanks to some very kind volunteers, Rye was sparkling with Christmas lights up and down the high street, whilst a huge Christmas tree – kindly provided by Martello Developments Limited and Littledown Christmas Tree Farm, Westfield – welcomed visitors on the Strand, in preparation for the big day that all kicked off at 10:30am on Cinque Ports Street.

The Rye Christmas Festival committee want to say a huge thank you to their friends and sponsors who have helped make this year come to life again. This festival is all about bringing Christmas to Rye, and without the help and support of those who kindly donate to the cause this wouldn’t be possible. Also, a huge thank you to Rye and District Camera Club and Story and Brand for coming to capture the festival memories in all their glory.

And finally – a huge thank you from the bottom of the committee’s hearts to all who visited this year. Whether you simply stumbled across the festival by chance or have been planning to come since last year, we cannot thank you enough for joining us for another year of celebrations in Rye; to see so many happy faces enjoying themselves is what we do this for.

Though the festival may be over, the festival spirit is still in the air – and the committee are still sharing photos of the big day and Christmas-related news on their social medias, so be sure to keep an eye on their social media platforms (here, here and here) to stay in the loop.
