Country market reopens

The lobby at the community centre on Rye’s Conduit Hill was full last Friday. We were waiting in eager anticipation for the  hall door to open and the voice of Phillip Ashton-Cobb to announce the re-opening of the country market.

Then there was the usual dash for the fresh vegetable stall and the flowers. Runners and French beans were plentiful as was other garden produce. I collected a magnificent bunch of variegated gladioli and only then was there time to acknowledge friends and other stallholders for a social chat.

It was good to meet up again, after the long Covid-19 imposed break. The stallholders were as pleased as we were to resume this weekly event, open each Friday 10-11:30am. They welcome our strong support.
