Children enjoyed a fun afternoon at East Street Museum during half term on Wednesday October 25.

They were busy making bird feeders out of pine cones filled with peanut butter, birdseed and fruits. They also made some lovely looking leaf people from tubes, leaves and embellishments and various other objects using leaves and craft items. Many thanks to the museum helpers, Heather, Sue and Sue M, Caroline, Sheila and Jo.

East Street Museum will be organising a children’s Christmas craft afternoon from 12-3pm on Saturday December 9, during Rye’s Christmas Festival “Toyland”.

Children can make old-fashioned Christmas crafts such as pop-up cone puppets, Christmas-tree ornaments, paper chains etc. Do come along.

As you may know, the Christmas grotto will be in a different location this year (at the rear of the Cinque Ports pub) on December 9. Look on the website  for further details – tickets on sale soon.

Please note East Street Museum is now closed for the winter except for the monthly talks, programme and special events. The next event will be on Thursday November 9 at 7:30pm, a fascinating illustrated talk created and presented by Ann Rachlin, called The Ménage à Trois in Ellen Terry’s Garden.

Tickets £3, guests £4. New members always welcome. More information at the museum.
