Fantastic support for food bank

Rye Food Bank is very fortunate to benefit from generous benefactors, both individuals and businesses, each week.  This means we are able to meet the continuing demand and keep stocks replenished for those who are having a difficult time at the moment.

This week we had the pleasure of receiving a wonderful donation from Dom’s Food Mission who donated an amazing 823kg of non-perishable food. Hastings based Dom’s Food Mission was founded in 2015 by husband and wife Dominic and Alexandria Warren and aims to help feed less fortunate people and, at the same time, make an impact on food waste.

The food bank also receives regular donations from many local businesses including the Kit Kat Cafe on Camber beach. Karen Jeffrey manages the Kit Kat Cafe for owner Dexter Boxall and collects for the food bank from all around Camber and delivers it to us in the Kit Kat truck accompanied by the broadest of smiles. And then there is Mr and Mrs Cooper with their farm stall at Coopers Corner, Wittersham who donate tomatoes and beans from their garden.

Whether you donate a tin of beans or stacks of money please be assured you are appreciated and everything you give to Rye Food Bank goes directly to those in our community who are in crisis.

This week we supplied 644Kg of food to 73 people including 28 children.

Please keep your donations coming. We are now opening on Wednesdays only at the Baptist hall in Cinque Ports Street in Rye  to receive donations and for clients to visit.

Monetary donations can be sent to the Bexhill Food Bank Rye Branch at Barclays Bank, sort code 20-54-25, account number 83501116, through the Jempson Foundation or cheques to Rye Food Bank c/o 24 North Salts, Rye.   If you donate via the Jempson Foundation and are a taxpayer, gift aid can be applied, thereby increasing the value of the donation by 25% at no cost to the donor.

You can contact Rye Food Bank at ryefoodbank@gmail.com.   If you need help from Rye Foodbank contact Rother District CAB on 0800 02904 3948, email: help@rotherdistrictcab.org.uk, or the Hastings Advice & Representation Centre (HARC) on 0333 344 0681, email: info@harcuk.com.
