On Friday, February 28 the Rye and District Dementia Action Alliance, founded by Delia Redman, organised a fun afternoon at the 1st Rye Scout Centre, The Grove. The funds raised went to the new Wellbeing Hub, near the hospital, on Rye Hill.
Barry Nealon, chair of the hospital since 2010, gave a talk explaining, with pictures of the new build, just how it was going to be used by community and professionals alike. The hope is that it will open on May 1. The new MP, Sally-Ann Hart made a short appearance, talking to people before going to her surgery at St Mary’s Centre in Lion street.
To entertain the audience, apart from lovely cakes and tea, the Primary School Singers Club performed on their own sounding beautiful and later were joined by the established Singing Group for Well Being with the skilled leadership of Louise Fletcher. The choir is a diverse, inclusive and enthusiastic group, their lovely harmonies making a full sound. Their motto is “every member counts”.
