Last weekend, St Laurence Church,  Guestling hosted its annual flower festival to raise money for this ancient and beautiful church. Huge numbers of people came to see the wonderful displays of flowers, thus making it an extra special occasion for Rosemary Gainsbury, who was organising her last flower festival after 30 years service.

Sarah Lewis, the Festival’s Publicity Officer said: “I wanted people to come along to the flower festival to thank Rosemary for her long service in organising the Festival, and we were not disappointed! The flowers were amazing as usual – the church was full of vivid colours, eclectic and imaginative displays, as well as an incredible scent. This year’s theme was ‘Observer Books.’

“We are also happy to report that over £3000 was raised for the Church Restoration Fund, which is an increase on previous years, so we would like to thank everyone who came along, as well as all those who put together the incredible floral displays. We want everyone to know that the flower festival will be back again next year as usual, on the weekend before the August Bank Holiday. Further details will be published nearer the time, but we hope to see everyone back for another floral extravaganza in aid of our beautiful, historic church”.
