When the going gets tough, the tough get growing, so now – as winter approaches – is the time to think about spring and register now for free grow kits from Get Growing, a community programme delivered by the Hawkhurst-based charity Hands of Hope.
The charity produces in-season organic fruit and vegetables to those who need it most via local food banks and community groups as well as distributing grow kits including seeds, compost, plug plants, pots and growing instruction sheets to encourage communities throughout Rother, Hastings and West Kent to grow their own food.
From windowsill to pot, to patio, to garden – whether growing at home, at school, at nursery, or as part of a community garden – during these unprecedented times the charity’s aim is to give everyone the tools to start growing their own food and, where possible, use the surplus to support local food banks and community support groups.
During the summer and autumn we delivered over 250 grow kits and are now registering interest for Get Growing Spring. If you would like to register your interest please visit: www.get-growing.co.uk
