With so many shops and cafés on the High Street closed, it is not necessarily obvious which are still open. One of these is Rye Health Store, run by Georgina Woods, which stocks a variety of essential day to day items. As well as the vitamin and herbal supplements that you might expect from a health store, the shop also stocks organic vegetables such as salad leaves and spring onions, milk, eggs, a range of delicious breads, tinned goods, rice and yes, even pasta and toilet rolls.
The shop also has supplies of bread flour, which has been in short supply all over the country as people use lockdown to hone their baking skills.
Cleaning products are well supplied including a range of Ecover refillables, where you can bring your own bottles to top up from large containers of shampoo, washing up liquid and others, at cheaper rates than buying the same product from scratch.
Georgina is happy to deliver to people who are shielding or in need. Ring up the shop to make an order, pay over the phone and she will usually deliver after work that day. You can reach her on (01797) 223495. The shop is open Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
The store is observing social distancing as you would expect and only two customers are allowed inside at the same time.
Rye is lucky to have this shop. Support it if you can. You will be doing the town and yourself a favour in the short and longer term.
