Rye is a very popular destination for weddings, and barely a weekend goes by in the summer without at least a couple of marriages. This weekend though, September 3, the town will receive a professional seal of approval as Kendra Leaver who works for the distinguished Condé Nast Brides magazine will marry Joshua Rylah.
Kendra, the Retail Editor and Events Director at Conde Nast Brides, has a link with Rye as her family home is Cadborough House. The wedding will see a military influence as Joshua is the Naval Liaison Officer to London, and spent 6 months in the Falklands last year. There will be a guard of honour provided by his colleagues, with an arch of swords as the couple exit the Church.
The reception will take place in a marquee at Cadborough hosting just under 200 guests, seeing the military theme carried out throughout the day with subtle touches, from a “sloe gin bar” in the recently converted world war two bunker, to the garden shed, flying the “Ensign flag” which has been also converted into a “processco pub” for the wedding.
Kendra will be wearing a couture gown by British Designer, Caroline Casigliano with accessories by Jenny Packham and Jimmy Choo shoes with Swarovski crystal heels! Joshua will be wearing his uniform and will no doubt be looking very dashing and handsome.
We look forward to hopefully reading about the big day in Brides!
Last weekend the congregation at St Mary’s was pleased to welcome back Sandra and Jun Goh who were married in the church on August 8 last year. They live and work in London. They brought their two month old son Ryan with them, whose name bears an uncanny resemblance to the name of the town which they both love visiting, saying, “A little over a year ago we got married in this beautiful church in Rye. Yesterday we were so happy to bring our son to be blessed here. We promise it was just a coincidence that our son’s name is Ryan!”
