Beautiful rugs

Three weeks ago Hunter Jones moved from Strand Quay into a shop in Market Road. Michael (Mikey) Beatt and Michael Jones set up the business in East London in 2010. Back then they mainly up-cycled furniture and sold it online. Having moved to Rye they took a space in one of the Vintage shops in Strand Quay where they shared the space with other stalls. They soon developed their business to include rugs and home ware. Mikey and Michael stayed there for seven years before deciding it was time to open the shop in Market Road.
Hunter Jones now sells an eclectic mix of rugs from around the world, sheepskin rugs, ceramics from Holland and Denmark, stationery from Japan and their own range of natural, sustainable candles and soap which are all made for them in England. Michael Jones says: “We are naturally moving towards more of a ‘lifestyle’, offering skincare, fashion accessories and ceramics with a contemporary, playful look.”

Ceramics from Holland and Denmark

Best sellers have proved to be the hand-loomed Scandi rugs, which suit modern and more traditional interiors alike and start at just £28, and a range of sheepskins which they source from New Zealand, Sweden and Devon. Brands they stock include Studio Arthoj (Japanes- inspired ceramics handmade in Copenhagen Harbour) Mr Boho (Italian-made sunglasses), Austin skincare (British certified organic ) and HK living (rustic-design home ware).
