On Saturday, March 17 Gillian and Jim Wood opened the Barn at their Oxenbridge Farm, in Iden to many projects to raise funds for Tenterden and District National Trust Association (TDNTA) as well as for the National Trust itself.
It was cold that day and snowing but it did not keep away supporters. The barn was busy with people sampling sparkling wine from Chapel Down, looking at art from the sixth form of Holmwood School in Tenterden or trying to get warm with a cup of coffee and eating very tasty cakes which were prepared by volunteers. The day raised over £600 for TDNTA.
Rye Harbour Sailing Club (RHSC) was selling cards to raise money for a new dinghy. They set up a charity RHSC Sailability which was launched successfully in August 2017. The idea is to give a chance to people with disabilities to get out into the water in a dinghy with an experienced skipper and trained crew member. They would welcome volunteers to help on those particular days. If interested please contact carolinewylson@btinternet.com
Opposite the barn Nancy Nicholson held an open studio where she has established herself, only after a few years, as an innovative force in the craft sector encouraging practical embroidery with contemporary designs for beginners and advanced enthusiasts alike. She has stitch kits, cards and other delightful designs to chose from. For further information or to organise a visit go to www.nancynicholson.co.uk
