An exciting new event starts this Friday organised by local charity ARRCC (who have recently opened a new shop in Cinque Ports Street) and they it will encourage people from the local community to come and join in.

ARRCC will be holding monthly tea dances on the third Friday of the month, the first one this Friday March 18 from 1:30pm until 4:00pm at the Rye Creative Centre (RCC) in New Road in Rye.

ARRCC hopARRCC Tea Dancees to encourage the elderly and those living with dementia and their carers, to come along to have some relaxation and fun. There will be a donation entry fee of £2, homemade cake and tea will be available and local transport can be arranged too.

The centre has ample free parking and full disabled access and toilets.

ARRCC is a registered charity providing a range of support, advice and training opportunities for physically and sensory impaired adults and those living with dementia. ARRCC tries to give disabled adults the confidence to make the most of their lives and give them access to all the opportunities available to the wider community.

They aim to rebuild lives and equip our members with the skills they need to face the future with confidence and optimism. They do this by providing a holistic approach to service provision, creating opportunities to access educational, recreational and therapeutic facilities.

ARRCC enables people to live independently through providing support services. The organisation currently provides services four days a week at Rye Creative Centre and three days a week for the elderly at ARRCC Elders at Magdala House in Ferry Road.

Their independent living service is growing rapidly, as are the social enterprises in the form of the Furniture Warehouse at the Rye Creative Centre and Pre-Loved Fashion and Homeware, a high-end charity shop (pictured, top).

A number of fundraising events are held throughout the year at the RCC, ranging from theatre shows and gigs to quiz nights and exhibitions in the theatre and gallery spaces as well as external events such as open gardens and fashion shows.
