Micro-breakers head to town?

Readers may be familar with the term “mini-break”, normally a long weekend stay away from home for a couple, perhaps escaping the kids or work for a peaceful interlude in a luxury hotel. The Stylist magazine is now proposing a “micro-break”, a day away for people who have neglected to organise themselves a long weekend in time and fancy a day out to a beautiful place that is easy to get to from London.

Rye is top of the list of places it recommends for Easter. The magazine heads its feature, published on March 23, with a photograph of Mermaid Street, but recommends staying at the George. It points out the 1 hour 17 minute journey from London as well as the proximity of Camber Sands with its classy restaurant at the Gallivant.

The Stylist magazine is distributed free on the streets of London and has a circulation of more than 400,000 copies. So this Easter, look out for even more grey faced, worn out and stressed looking Londoners, wondering at our town’s beauty, marvelling at the quaint cobbles, taking photos of Sylvester the church cat and gorging themselves at one of our quality tea shops. I should know, I will be one of them!
