Christmas events continue to come thick and fast with the Rye Dance Centre performing a pantomime “Watch with Mother” at the Rye Community Centre on Conduit Hill at 7pm tonight, Friday December 14, and at 1:30pm and 6pm tomorrow, Saturday, December 15. Tickets from Rye Dance Centre at Postern Gate in Cinque Ports Street, Rye or call 01797 224979.

Also tomorrow, December 15, Jempson’s Rye store is being visited between 10am and 2pm by a festive menagerie of animals expected to include reindeer, miniature donkeys and cows, a lamb and a baby goat.

Elsewhere tomorrow, Saturday, the retirement living scheme at St Bartholomew’s Court (behind the hospital at the top of Rye Hill) has a Christmas Market between 2pm and 6pm with various stalls including gifts, cakes, crafts, decorations, cards, and a raffle, along with refreshing mulled wine and mince pies.

Tonight (Friday, December 14) the mighty Wurlitzer organ is back in action along with the Cranbrook Town Band at the Milligan Theatre at Rye College in Love Lane from 7:15pm. For tickets (adults £10, children free), which include mulled wine (for the adults) and mince pies, call 01424 444058.

On Sunday, December 16, Peasmarsh Memorial Hall hosts an art exhibition from 11am to 4pm – a chance to purchase that special Christmas present.

And for those who like carols, this Sunday features them at Rye Methodists 10:30am; St Mary’s East Guldeford, with the Rye Singers, at 2:30pm; Icklesham Church 4pm, Guestling Church 6pm, and (last but not least) carols by candlelight at Northiam Church at 6:30 pm.
