The Kings Head at the top of Rye Hill has launched its special Mothering Sunday menu which is available from 12 noon to 5pm on Sunday, March 14.

The options include a fancy fish pie with king scallops, smoked salmon and cod, and braised rump of lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and port jus. Two courses cost £17.50. Delivery can also be arranged in Rye and takeaway is also an option. Call 01797 225962 to order.

The pub is getting ready to open up for meals served in the garden from April 15, assuming it is legal to do so. The current plan is to open Thursday to Sunday serving food from 12 noon until 8pm and closing at 9pm. The pub is getting a garden makeover and hopefully patio heaters. Bookings are streaming in for rooms over the summer and the pub hopes to open up its accommodation from May 17, again subject to regulations.

The pub manager expects a very busy summer as people look to stay in the UK for holidays and trips out. The Kings Head is expecting to recruit new front of house and kitchen staff. Interested applicants can email their CV to Lisa Drinkwater.

  1. Your article heading refers to ‘Mother’s Day’? An American invention ! – it should not be confused with ‘Mothering Sunday’ ,which is a religious day.
( This confusion seems to occur annually!)
