A letter to Rye from the workshop of Father Christmas:
Dearest Children, well done! You made The Nice List!
I just wanted to take a moment to write to you to let you know how things are up here in the North Pole. We are working our stripy socks off as normal and the events of this year have not affected our workshop or the record-breaking speed that the elves make all of the toys. We all live in a bubble anyway so we are lucky that we can continue as normal here.
I am so sorry that the Rye Christmas Festival cannot happen this year but the most important thing is that we all keep safe. Of course that means I too need to stay home and look after myself. Other than on the eve of Christmas of course, when myself and my reindeer will be out in the skies, protected by our magic to deliver all of your presents as normal.
We will meet again next year! Until then, please continue to look after yourself and your loved ones, as they are your biggest gift.
Don’t forget to leave a carrot out for the reindeer and a little treat to keep me going.
And remember, no peeping,
I know when you are asleep.
