A curious sight greeted those passing the new Curious Brewery in Ashford on Tuesday (July 30). A 1920 Foster steam traction engine, named ‘Corn Maiden’ steamed into the car park to promote the Weald of Kent Steam Rally, The largest event of its kind in Kent, being held at Little Engeham Farm, Woodchurch this weekend (August 3-4).
Curious Brew will be in attendance at the rally all weekend where 135 full-size and scale engines will be featured along with a motorcycle ‘Wall of Death’, a vintage fairground, classic cars, military vehicles and a restoration marquee giving access to what goes into bringing these spectacular machines back to life.
Bill Giles, director of the Weald of Kent Steam Rally, said “A large number of engines will be travelling from Sussex, Essex, Surrey and Hampshire to make this the largest event of its kind in Kent”.
