The iconic anchor outside the heritage centre on Strand Quay has been given a new paint job and is ship-shape once more.
The paint and equipment were donated by Rock Channel Marine, and Susan Hassell, Ken Kember and mayor-elect Andi Rivett volunteered to undertake the painting.
The anchor was taken away for a long refurbishment from 2014 – 2015, but there was no need to remove it for this paint job.
The three-ton anchor dates from around 1530 and was recovered from Rye Bay in 1993.
