RNLI Rye Harbour launched their Atlantic 85 at 1:45pm on Sunday, August 20 to attend Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat’s open day. Paul Bolton, lifeboat operations manager at RNLI Rye Harbour explained: “It is always great to be able to show our support for our flank independent lifeboat station. Not only did our boat crew take part but many crew attended with their families on the shore.”
Paul Goring, the town crier started the proceedings with his cry:
“Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! Welcome to Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat open day!
“A fun-packed day lays ahead of us – including a dog show at 11:30am and a live sea display at 2pm! We have live music from Pan Up Steel and – if we are lucky – the first ever singing performance from the Rescue Boat Crew themselves! Pett Level is not part of the RNLI and receives no official funding. It is entirely dependent on donations – so please give generously to allow its vital work to continue! Have a fun day! And God save the king!”
There was a great turn out and wonderful support for the independent lifeboat crew.
As the pictures show, the Atlantic 85 worked alongside Pett’s Zodiac MilPro 5.4m inshore rescue boat. Rob Jennings, helm of the RNLI Rye Harbour boat said upon his return: “It was great to be part of the Pett Level open day. They came and supported us for our open day and we train together and share the same aim, to save lives at sea.”
