The pupils from Rye Community Primary School last week celebrated World Book Day, the worldwide celebration of books and reading which is marked in over 100 countries around the globe.

Both children and staff were asked to come to school dressed as their favourite character from a book and bring their favourite books to share with others. Some amazing costumes from the pupils really put the teachers to shame!

World Book Day changes lives through the love of books and shared reading. Promoting reading for pleasure, the mission is to offer every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own. The aim is to ensure more children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, develop a lifelong habit of reading for pleasure and benefit from the improved life opportunities this brings.
