Rother Environmental Group has arranged a visit to Veolia’s Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) located at Hollingdean, Brighton on May 14. This state-of-the-art facility sorts bulk household waste from East Sussex and Brighton and Hove before it is transported onwards to recycling, recovery and disposal facilities. Hollingdean MRF is part of a network of strategically placed facilities designed to increase recycling and recovery in East Sussex and Brighton and Hove. The MRF and Waste Transfer Station facilities in Hollingdean handle 160,000 tonnes a year.
If you have ever wondered what happens to that mixture of recycling that is collected from your green bin every fortnight, then this is the tour for you!
The tour will take approximately two hours (depending on the number of questions) and will start at 10am. Numbers are limited to a maximum of 20 and names have to be submitted in advance so if you wish to go please email info@rotherenvironmental.org.uk as soon as possible.
Parking at the facility is limited and therefore it is proposed to organise car sharing. When you email please indicate whether you are able to offer lifts or need one. Alternatively you can get there by train. The MRF is a short (10 minute) walk from London Road, Brighton Station. The 7:45am from Rye (8:19am from Bexhill) will get you to London Road for 9:27am.
