Some of our older bonfire boys and girls should know that, sadly, Kath Pettit recently passed away peacefully. Kath was a stalwart of East Hoathly and Halland Carnival Bonfire Society and was also their secretary at one time.
We understand that Kath’s funeral will take place on Friday, May 29 at midday. The funeral cortege will slowly pass through the village of East Hoathly, laying family flowers at the church, and then slowly pass the pavilion (along the bonfire route) where it is hoped that, maybe if time allows, a very brief pause can happen before travelling on to the crematorium for a private cremation. A service of thanksgiving will take place later in the year.
Hopefully bonfire boys and girls will be able to stop and pay their respects, keeping to the social distancing. Rye Bonfire society sends our deepest sympathy to her family and friends.
