With just a few days to go, Rye and Winchelsea Rotary Club president Colin Baker says ‘It’s time to get your walking boots out and join the 19th Annual Charity walk, raising funds for Rye Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital and other local good causes’. This walk enjoys some spectacular scenery and an abundance of flora and fauna, not forgetting the new born spring lambs. This year, the walk will take a new route towards Winchelsea.
It costs just £10 for an adult walker and £7 for 13 to 17 year old walkers, younger walkers are free. Enter on the day or you can collect an entry form from Phillips and Stubbs office in Cinque Ports Street, Rye, or email ryerotary@hotmail.co.uk.
Starting from The Rye Club, Market Road, Rye TN31 9JA between 9.00 and 10.00am, on Sunday, May 21 , the walk leaves Rye via Winchelsea Road, crosses Walland Marsh to Winchelsea, along the Brede Valley to Icklesham, returning to Rye via the Royal Military Canal and Camber Castle. There is a choice of three distances, 2, 6 or 10 miles. Refreshments at Castle Farm, Winchelsea Beach and a completion certificate for all walkers on return to The Rye Club. There will be marshals along the route, maps and walk notes will be issued on the day.
