Scallops at The Globe Inn

Its always a  delight to visit  The Globe Inn Marsh in Military Road, an eccentrically furnished clapboard building with log fires to snuggle beside while nursing a well-kept pint.  Even more delightful is to visit on the Chef’s entertaining night (every Wednesday) and sample delightful dishes from the specially created menu.  We saw the scallops on the menu under the smaller plates list described as roasted and accompanied by chorizo and tomato jam.  The sound of the jam was intriguing.

There were three on each plate, and they were totally gorgeous. The cylinder shape of the scallop standing proudly  with the pink coral curling gently round the base is such an attractive presentation on the plate.  These were beautiful sweet and tender scallops perfectly matched with the amazing chorizo and tomato jam, which gave a gentle excitement to the delicate scallop flavour.

These were rye bay scallops at their best.  The chef, Wenzel, came to see us and we told him what a great combination he had created with the jam.  He seemed as delighted as we were.
