A course of regular singing sessions in a relaxed friendly group will be starting shortly to help those with breathing conditions such as asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and other lung problems.  According to the British Lung Foundation, there is increasing evidence that singing regularly as part of a group is good for your general health and wellbeing, especially if you have a lung condition.

Free sessions will be held starting  for 12 weeks starting March 6. They will take place at Camber Village Hall, Mondays 11am-12pm;  Winchelsea Beach Village Hall, Mondays 1-2pm and at Rye Harbour Village Hall, Mondays 3-4pm.

No singing experience needed. Partners and family members are welcome to come too. For more information and to book a place, contact Di White on: 01303 220870, or di.white@canterbury.ac.uk

The programme is organised by The Music Well, a music for wellbeing community interest company based in Rye, in association with the Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health, Canterbury Christ Church University. It is funded by Hastings and Rother Clinical Commissioning Group and supported by the Sussex Community Foundation, Working in association with Ferry Road Health Centre and Rye Medical Centre.

  1. Thanks for promoting this project Kenneth. Just to add that the groups start on Monday 6 March but people can join at any time. Also if Mondays are inconvenient it would still be good to hear from people that are interested as we will run further courses from May onwards and they could happen at different times in different locations!
