Leviathans from a bygone age will be steaming through the country lanes of East Sussex and Kent next weekend to promote the Weald of Kent Steam Rally taking place near Woodchurch on August 7 – 8.

The press launch for the event takes place at Bilsington Priory, Bilsington, next Sunday, July 18. A variety of traction engines and a selection of other classic vehicles will be on display next to the 12th century priory that sits along the Saxon Shore Way.

Bill Giles, who organises the Weald of Kent Steam Rally said; “It’s just a taster for our big show next month. Everyone’s looking forward to it as, like most shows last year, it was cancelled due to Covid. The rally is the only one of its kind in Kent this year and features probably the largest collection of traction engines you’re likely see in one place. We’ll also have classic and vintage cars, agricultural machinery, a fair, beer tent and stalls of all kinds.”
