Getting ready to throw the jack

Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday a group of keen players meet at 10:30am to play Boules at Strand Quay. The number of people vary but most of the time there are enough to have two teams of three or four.
Everyone is welcome and if it is an uneven number, one person is the referee. Quite often there is much discussion after each game and sometimes even a tape measure comes out to make quite sure whose team has the closest boule to the jack. While it is a very friendly game and much laughter, underlying of course is a competitive spirit as each team wants to win.
Anyone interested in joining the group is welcome to come one of the Wednesdays and have a go.

  1. The slight inaccuracy in this report is that this particular group of boules players belong to Rye U3A and any newcomers need to be members of U3A. however, the pitch is free to use and anyone is welcome to play there.
