It was a very busy time at the swap shop in the Tilling Green Community Centre last Saturday, February 22 with lots of books, clothes, kitchen paraphernalia and more for people to chose from. Any item taken saves it from being buried in landfill. The next swap shop is Saturday, May 16 at St Mary’s Centre in Lion Street.
In addition, a project that fights fuel poverty, Energise Sussex Coast (ESC) from Hastings, brought their mini eco house with various energy saving measures to explain to anyone interested how to save energy, help with looking at changing providers and how to best insulate their home.
Staff from ESC were available to give information about it, like secondary glazing to keep out draughts. There are of course several ways of doing it but the one shown with the eco house seemed a good solution. It is a magnetic frame which fixes polycarbonate or acrylic as the secondary glazing.
