The charity shop on the High Street welcomed shoppers for its “hand bags and glad rags” fundraising event last Saturday, March 19, and the store met its £250 target, in aid of St John’s Hospice in Bedfordshire.

The fundraiser is an annual event across all Sue Ryder stores and benefits a different but specific hospice each year. Stores come up with their own ideas on how to raise funds.

For weeks, volunteers had been putting aside donations of especially glamorous clothes and hand bags, as well as evening shoes and other stylish accessories.

The result was a treasure trove of party gear.  Tea and coffee was available with cake for just £1.
