Update 10am, Friday, September 9:
The organisers of the festival of the sea have announced the following:
“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we have decided to not go ahead with our festival on Sunday the 11th following the upsetting news of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. We’re extremely sorry to announce this, but as a committee we just do not feel it is right to go ahead at this time.
“We are looking at potential future dates for this year and will release an update as soon as we have anything concrete.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

The town’s favourite family festival returns this Sunday, September 11. After an enforced two year break the Festival of the Sea is back.
The centrepiece raft race is at 12:45pm, with around 10 rafts competing this year, the action is likely to be fast, furious and not entirely serious.
There will also be lots happening on the Salts both before and after the race. There will be a selection of stalls in the festival market, and entertainments on the Salts, before and after the raft race, with lots of live music, including Ryebellion drummers at 2pm, Captain Pugwash readings from the town crier and so much more.
