Are you up for a challenge to find an innovative and creative way of getting from Rye Harbour to Winchelsea Beach and back? And having fun on April Fools Day? And raising funds for a wonderful charity?
Jo Clark-Wilson has organised this terrific event and told me more about it, “At 11am on April 1 a group of runners, walkers (with and without dogs), cyclists, roller skaters, dancers and musicians and people with unique challenges, are setting off from Park Holidays clubhouse by the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.
“Some of the quirky challenges include walking the route in fancy dress and a chicken tag egg and spoon team; dressing as Wonder Woman whilst making cards; knitting a scarf; and doing Tai Chi. There is a creation of a mobile photographic exhibition along the nature reserve (with an experienced twitcher), and someone has set himself a challenge of walking 5,000 steps, which would be a massive achievement.
“This is all in aid of Brains Matter, a charity focused on making a difference to the lives of individuals and their families after the trauma of brain injury.”
Brains Matter currently supports clients in a programme of activities at a day centre, with the community wellbeing service and drop-in support groups. The goals are to provide information, guidance and support that matters to enable all those to have purposeful, stimulating, and enjoyable lives, as far as possible.

Unique and inspiring day in Rye Harbour on April 1st with some of Jo’s amazing photographs and people who make such an enormous difference to those with brain injury and their families and careres. There will be lots of comradeship and fun with refreshments on Winchelsea Beach provided by Borehams mobile unit.
I will be travelling on my motor scooter as Gangsta Granny. Friends are playing their clarinets.
Heres looking forward to a tremendous event, hoping it won’t be too wet and windy and seeing a great crowd of you there!
Thank you Rye News. Brains Matter make a huge difference to Brain Injured and their families. Please join us and donate on the link if you can. My special needs son is excited to be taking part in his roller blades. I will be playing hockey with him there and back
