As you may know by now, this series is designed to get to know a little better, the people who have chosen Rye as their home or place of work.

Lucy Stubbs owns Lilly Jane Hair Salon, which opened five years ago this month.

Twitter or Instagram?

Instagram. I’m much more of a visual person. I like pictures and videos and I think you get more engaged with Instagram.

Eat in or go out?

Oh go out! My favourite food would be either Asian or Italian food. I like Heist Market and Bella Vista in St Leonards.

Music or talk radio?

Music. I’ve got Spotify so I listen to everything from Country & Western to trance music.

Coffee or tea?

Tea. Earl Grey.

Sand or shingle?

Sand. Don’t like things that hurt my feet. You’ve got to love Camber. And I love Winchelsea Beach even though it’s pebbly.

Dog or cat?

Dog. I’ve got a dog called Buster. He’s a Staff crossed Labrador.

Book or film?

Book. I like the old self help book. People who know me would know that. Anything on personal development I love.

Indoors or outdoors?

Outdoors now. I’ve started horse riding. I love being outside actually, I think it’s really good to be out in nature.

Sunday or Monday?

Sunday. I love Sundays. It’s family day, or chill out day, or not have to think about anything day.

Why Rye?

I’ve worked in Rye for quite a long time. I first came to Rye in 2002 when I worked for Rye Retreat. I’ve never lived in Rye but I’ve always come in to Rye to work. It’s lovely and has a great community spirit. It’s full of interesting people. Down on Cinque Ports Street we all know each other, we all look out for each other. Everyone loves coming to Rye don’t they, the parking’s good, you can walk around it easily, it’s full of interesting shops. I used to live in Hastings but I’ve now moved further away and still drive in, so that must mean something.
