On Saturday morning, January 14, Jamie’s Butchers in Winchelsea was buzzing with activity and delicious smells. There were cooked sausages to try and Jamie had cleverly married these treats with beers and lagers from far and wide.
Martin Newham said, “These are the best sausages in the world. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.”
Young Archie, commented, having tried at least four varieties. “My favourites are the chipolatas. Yummy.”
Jamie explained why he does these taster sessions: “We enjoy offering our customers the chance to try foods before they buy, so we set up Saturday events showcasing different foods from our butchery department and deli and cheese counter. Today we are giving people an opportunity to sample a variety of sausages including Toulouse, Old English, pork and herbs, caramelised onion and chipolata. They can also sample beers and lagers, some local and some from the continent and as far away as Jamaica.
“We did a taster session just before Christmas with fizz, port, sherry and dessert wines. It was a tremendous success so we are planning to do more of these events throughout 2023. We listen to our customers and value their opinions. We offer them a chance to try things they have never tasted before. Days like today give us the opportunity to get to know our customers a little more and happy customers are our priority.”
Jane Powell, who was shopping with her daughter Greta, summed it up: “If you are looking for the best tasting meats and deli products in Sussex come to Jamie’s – he’s the best. It’s organic, it’s fresh and you can trust the suppliers. It is the best range for miles around. The staff could not be more helpful and go out of their way to give you anything you need. It is a fantastic place to shop; we come here all the time. Best sausages in the world, yes definitely.”
