Easter fun at Tilling Green

Last weekend Tilling Green Residents Association (TGRA) held their first event of 2025 on Easter Saturday.

The Easter bunny was on hand to get the Easter celebrations underway at the Tilling Green Community Centre by handing chocolate to those who wanted it.

TGRA had 5 stalls at the event. There was a craft stall where children and some adults got to colour in masks and eggs generously donated to us by Tilling Green Arts and Craft Group, who have worked tirelessly over the last month or so to prepare the templates. We thank them for doing this for us.

We had a tombola which had about 50 prizes on and by the end we were left with an empty table.

The anagram game had children looking round the Community Centre looking for different letters to make 3 Easter words, with each child’s name going into a draw to win an Easter egg.

There was also guess the name of the teddy where each player got to choose a name they wanted and the participant’s name was drawn at random later in the event with the name being Bonnie. There was also a chance to guess the weight of the cake which was 607 grams –  no-one guessed the exact weight but the winner guessed 608 grams.

We also had music from the excellent The Rye Racketeers who practice at the community centre every Thursday at 6pm, and various stalls selling homemade cakes, biscuits, various different items and garden items.

We were also honoured to have the Rye town mayor Andy Stuart and the mayoress Niki Stuart attend the event.

Our next event is hosted by Tilling Green Residents Association and Rye Partnership on August 9 (times to be confirmed). The event is a school uniform and equipment swap which aims to help with the back-to-school burden. If you have any unwanted uniforms, coats, shoes and equipment in good condition (and clean) that can be re-homed they can be taken to the Tilling Green Community Centre where they can be stored until the day of the event. All items will be free on the day – a bit similar to swap shop. More information will follow.
