Friendly FAiR

Torrential rain (flaming June?) did not stop guests attending Tilling, Tea and Cake on Saturday June 15. Mayor Andy Stuart joined us, and we thank him for speaking warmly and acknowledging the work and services we provide at FAiR (Friends Altogether in Rother) which we continue to develop.

As well as tea and cake, professional advice and guidance was provided by some of our brilliant supporters:

Fiona & Luke of Tech Support (all the way from Eastbourne) offered IT support.

Jan Crook from Living Well shared her new project ‘For Pete’s Sake’, named after her brother who took his own life over 20 years ago.

Regular volunteers Julie and Marian from A Touch of Gentleness provided soothing hand massage for 8 guests.

Jo Morphy talked about her project ‘The Growing Network’ which is ‘growing’ across Sussex – guests bring seeds and plants for free. A great idea that FAiR is now going to champion at each monthly event.

Sarah from Sussex Outreach Support was there to provide professional medical support and advice to guests.

Kathy (CVTC) updated guests on our new Befriending service and our crowdfunding for £3K which will fund the Befriending platform for 3 years. More details about how you can donate here.

Finally, but not least, Joanna from Citizens Advice (CAB1066) helped 7 people with challenges they are facing.

A “One Big FAiR Thank you” goes to the providers of delicious cakes and savouries who consistently support us: Kate @ Haydens in Rye, Steve of the Cornish Bakery, and Jempson’s. We are extremely grateful.

So join us at our next regular event (the 3rd Saturday of each month) – on July 20, 10am – 12pm at Tilling Green Community Centre.
