Keiran Bransden, aged 17, is a trainee youth leader at Rye Youth Zone (RYZ) and lives in Tenterden. He is a wonderful asset to RYZ not only because is he young but because he is on the same wavelength as the youngsters. He is full of energy and sporting expertise and is willing to try new things. Here he tells Rye News a bit about himself.

Where are you a student?
My college is Sports Connect Aylesford.

At school what were you good at?
I was best at maths and sports.

Do you know what career path you are going to take?
The path I would like to take is either as a sports teacher or a youth worker.

What would you say are your strengths?
I have good communication skills and I am good at understanding others; I am also a very good listener and sometimes good at taking charge when it is needed.

How do you find working in the RYZ?
It’s a very good place both for me and the children because it’s a great place to get more social for people who struggle with being open and good for those who struggle with things like anxiety. It is also able to help me clear my mind about a lot of other personal things going on and is a great place to make new friends.

Did you have any form of youth club growing up where you could do sports, play games, create artistic things and just hang out with people of your own age?
I used to go to the North Youth Club in Ashford as I was growing up and enjoyed it very much.

What hobbies do you have?
Playing football and doing all sorts of sporty things and also being able to help others is another thing I like to do.

What is your favourite food to eat?
If I had to choose I would pick pizza but I like to experiment tasting different types of burgers when I go to restaurants.

What dreams do you have for your future?
One I have had for a while is to have a nice, happy family and be able to provide for them and be a youth worker or care helper for others.
