Recruitment has begun for lifeguards to protect holiday makers at Camber this summer. The RNLI says the recruits’ comprehensive training can help with a career in the emergency or public services, or to find a job abroad.
Applicants should be able to swim 400m in under seven and a half minutes, run 200m on a beach under 40 seconds, or swim 25m in 50 seconds.
The roles last for the summer season at both Camber West and Camber Central lifeguard stations. Typically up to 40 hours a week. £11.44 per hour * 2024 pay rate. This will be reviewed and may increase for the 2025 season.
Hugh Richardson, Lead Lifeguard Supervisor, said: “No two days are the same as a RNLI lifeguard. We provide recruits with world class training in rescue techniques and casualty care and get the opportunity to work alongside external agencies such as HM Coastguard, SECAmb and RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews.”
Applicants need to be aged 16 or over on the day of their assessment, hold a National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ), and meet the charity’s criteria.
