Remembrance Sunday falls on November 10 2024 and is an opportunity for the community to remember the service and sacrifice of all those who have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.

In Rye, Remembrance is traditionally in two parts: a parade and service in St Mary’s Church. then a wreath laying ceremony at the Rye Town Memorial. The church service starts just before 11am.

Those parading should be at Adams in the High Street by no later than 10:30 am. The congregation should be in church by 10:45 am. There will be a seating plan.

Every day ex-service personnel, living with the impacts of serving their country, come to the Royal British Legion for support. Wearing a red poppy shows you care and helps the RBL support those who struggle with life after service. Please support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal and help continue its vital work.

This year we remember the anniversary of the campaigns below and those who fought and died in them.

The 25th of the NATO peacekeeping operation in Kosovo

The 60th anniversary of the end of national service

The 80th anniversary of D-Day; the Battle of Monte Cassino; the Battles of Kohima and Imphal; Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Scheldt.

We will remember them.
